Attribute #3 of a Marketplace Ambassador
As Ambassadors for Christ, we are always witnessing to those around us whether we realize it or not. People are always watching.
Here are three effective ways to share Christ to those around us on a daily basis.
1. Our Personal Witness
How we treat people, respond to stress, challenges, and setbacks can be the single greatest opportunity to shine a bright light for Christ. The world typically handles these situations by manifesting stress and anger and often taking that out on others. As Christ followers, it is important to be “real and authentic”, however we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and an opportunity to allow God to guide us through difficult situations by demonstrating a genuine faith and trust that God can and will guide us through.
2. Our Testimony
Hopefully, if we are allowing God to guide us through our challenges and we are demonstrating a life of humility and seeking wise, Biblical counsel through our difficult decisions, there will be opportunities to share the reasons why. If we are intentional about truly seeking opportunities to give God the glory and share with others specifically how God has helped us through difficult times, there will be plenty of opportunities that come our way. It is important to do this in a very humble, real, and non- preachy manner. Our first-hand experience of how God has worked in our life makes for a very powerful witness to those around us. Keep in mind that our testimony does not always need to be delivered in the complete story form. I find that I share parts of my testimony and how God has worked in a particular situation far more often that I share the entire story.
3. Prayer
One of the most effective elements that we can do is to pray for those around us. As we do this, God will open up our hearts to see and care for people in a manner much closer to the way He sees them. I have found prayer to be a significant door opener in witnessing opportunities. God loves and cares for everyone that we come in contact with. How much more effective can we be as His ambassador if we seek His guidance?
2 CORINTHIANS 5:20
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
MATTHEW 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Questions to consider:
What is the Lord speaking to you as you read through this?
What can you do to be more intentional to witness in your sphere of influence?
What motivates you to live this way?
