God is love, and He created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them, out of His love. We also learn that He used wisdom in this process: It is He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom; and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens. Jeremiah 10:12
Wisdom is about boundaries. It is the discernment between good and evil. God separated the heavens from the earth in His creation process. Understanding is the application of wisdom. By his understanding, God separated the stars from the space. What He created was all good, so there was no evil, but different entities. So, He separated the land from the waters, and created animals for each realm, which were distinctly different from the other animals.
Then, He created man, in His own image, with a character capable of love! Adam was given the task of naming the animals, which he did, but he found none of them that could be his companion, because of the distinct difference between man and animals. So, God created woman out of man, and gave her to Adam, who named her Eve. They were placed in a beautiful garden which had everything they needed, and it was all good! They were given dominion over it, could do anything they wanted, and could eat anything, except for the fruit of one tree! It was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In other words, it was the tree of Wisdom! They only had one rule!
Eve was beguiled by the crafty serpent, and Adam watched it happen. (Gen 3:6b) Satan, in the guise of the serpent, convinced Eve that God was holding out on them. He hadn’t given them wisdom! That was true, but what did they need to know about the difference between good and evil? Everything was good! They had no need to know about evil!
Now everything changed! They no longer walked with God in the garden, because God sent them out, and they no longer had an intimate relationship with Him. It had been broken by their disobedience.
They still had a relationship with Him, as we see from God’s conversations with Cain.
We don’t see much about love or wisdom or leadership in these early times.
We do see God’s patience and care for the people He created, whether they noticed it, or not.
That’s important for us to remember as we associate with the people around us. They need our love and our service, whether they realize it, or not. It is important for us to live out the character that God has given us.
Heb 10:24-25 …let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, …assembling together, …encouraging one another;…
